RTG High-Rise: Fire Attack and Water Supply

A recent training, RTG High-Rise: First-In Company, focused on being prepared to initiate fire attack in a high-rise building in the Los Angeles region. It covered tasks of the first-arriving company at a high-rise incident, including preplanning, size up, lobby control, and fire alarm panel access.

As a follow-up, this course aims to address the considerations that make high-rise firefighting different from other structures. More specifically, considerations that occur when allocating resources that arrive after the initial company, making the ascent to the fire floor, and establishing the water supply.

The considerations discussed in this training pertain to all structures with standpipes and water systems that supply water for the firefight. For example, the new 6-7 story apartment buildings that are common in most districts in the LA area, not just the high-rises in the larger cities.
