RTG Interoperable Communication

This training will focus on communications as a critical factor for success during any firefighter operations, with particular focus on interagency response. Seamless communication between agencies is essential in mounting a successful response to terrorist events or other large-scale threats, including wildfires, earthquakes, and so on.

The lesson introduces these concepts in preparation for a hands-on drill.

RTG Interoperable Communications: LA-RICS

In January 2024 the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) will transition their communications to the Los Angeles Regional Interoperable Communications System (LA-RICS). This change will impact LACoFD personnel as well as all LAAFCA-member fire departments across Los Angeles County because of the automatic and mutual aid relationships in the region.

This training will establish a regional standard for interoperable communications, allowing fire service members from agencies across Los Angeles County to communicate with LACoFD crews, dispatch, and other mutual aid partners.
