This course will improve communications on multi-casualty incidents (MCIs).
An organized and disciplined exchange of information between the Treatment or Triage Leader, Medical Communications Coordinator, and Transportation Unit Leader, among others, is essential for patient treatment and recovery during an MCI response. Documentation and accountability procedures related to patient transport often create bottlenecks in an MCI response, delaying critical treatment. Every firefighter should understand and be prepared to support these procedures to improve patient outcomes.
The lesson introduces these concepts in preparation for a hands-on drill.
