Hazardous materials can be defined as any material that, because of its quantity, concentration, or physical or chemical characteristics, may pose a real hazard to human health or the environment. These materials can be present at any type of response call. This program reviews how to recognize a hazardous materials incident, identify the type of hazardous materials on scene, and respond with the appropriate
resources. Situational awareness and patience are essential to avoiding a potentially serious exposure to a hazardous material.
