This course introduces the hazards associated with clandestine labs, including meth labs, butane honey oil labs, and marijuana grow labs.
Any fire company can encounter clandestine labs in daily performance of its duties, but most are not equipped to singlehandedly resolve the significant hazardous materials, explosion, and threats they present. Firefighters in the Los Angeles region must be capable of recognizing potential lab activity early and taking immediate actions ensure safety, isolate hazards, and engage specialized resources and partner agencies to mitigate emergency conditions.
The lesson introduces these concepts in preparation for a hands-on drill.
