The overarching goal of this lesson is for every fire service member to recognize a significant incident and when significant incident reviews could be helpful and necessary. Fire service members should be aware of various significant incident review tools and processes and be able to replicate them within their own jurisdiction.
This lesson will help fire service members understand the processes and benefits of after action reviews (AARs), critical incident stress debriefings (CISD), or even serious incident review teams (SIRT) as ways that a department can learn from these significant incidents and be better prepared for the next time they face one.
